Iranian Journal of Rangelands and Forests Plant Breeding and Genetic Research as a biannual journal, has been published since 2000 in the form of "collection of articles" by the Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands. In 2002, it was licensed as a research journal by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance (No. 1244.18443, 12.17.2002). In 2006, the journal was received the degree of "Scientific-Research" from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (letter No. 7295.3).This journal has an Impact Factor (IF) in the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) database.

This journal won the title of one of the top publications in the field of agriculture in 2011 in the 12th festival honoring the top researchers and technologists of the year of economic jihad.
